Vienna International Airport is also known as Wien Schwechat Flughafen. Along with Prague, it is one of the most important in eastern Europe. Its two terminals receive flights from all over the world. It is situated 18 km from the city. Connections to the urban centre are by train, bus, taxi… and limousine! Trains connect to the Vienna metro, so you can reach any point of the city. The journey lasts between 16 and 20 minutes. Buses can take you to the train station or to other destinations, such as Bratislava and Budapest. Minibuses and taxis are easy to find as you leave the terminal. Business hours in ViennaShops in Vienna tend to open from Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 6 pm. Some establishments extend their opening hours to 8 pm. The supermarkets all open continuously from 7 am to 7 pm. Saturdays they only open in the morning, generally from 8 am to 12 midday. Although in shopping zones, opening hours can extend to 5 pm. Sundays and holidays, the shops are shut, but you’re sure to find somewhere open at the main train stations. Schloß Schönbrunn (Schönbrunn Palace)This magnificent palace was the residence of the Habsburgs from the 18th Century until 1918. The palace is golden and its gardens in a Baroque style are exquisite in their beauty. Be prepared to walk for miles through this majestic palace. PraterThis leafy park includes a popular amusement park. Get on the Giant Ferris wheel and go up, up and away to enjoy that fabulous landscape.
