Restaurants in Granada

The Plaza de San Miguel Bajo is one of the neuralgic centres for tapas-tasting in the Albaicín neighbourhood. We can recommend these locales:

Mesón Casa Blas

Specialising in cochinillo tostón, migas de Alfacar and remojón granadino.
San Miguel Bajo, 1

El Rincón de la Aurora or Casa Pepe

This is the most popular of all. That's why we suggest you avoid peak times, between 14.00 and 15.30, or else hold onto your patience because the place's great atmosphere deserves it.
San Miguel Bajo, 7

Chikito

In the Plaza del Campillo, the old Café Alameda where Granada intellectuals and artists would meet is now a restaurant well known for its meat dishes.
Plaza Campillo, 9

A NIGHT ON THE TOWN...

If the tapas don't satisfy you and you want a little more, we suggest trying this place:

Café Pícaro

The owner is a well-known Granada writer who apparently opened the café so he could see his friends. The result is this entertaining venue where you can spend a great evening listening to jazz.

D'Cuadros

A new tapas bar we've been recommended but still haven't visited. One of these places that serves tapas during the day and becomes a lively pub at night. A modern, mixed atmosphere.
We don't have the address, but it's close to the calle Pedro Antonio de Alarcón

Don't miss... in Granada

Granada is a pleasurable multi-sensorial experience that will slowly open up before you, but we suggest you start with the following:

La Alhambra

The Alhambra appears to have been spirited out of a fairytale, or closer to home, out of one of the Arabian Nights tales. Outside, an imposing red fortress surrounded by cypresses and inside an exquisite architectural jewel comprised of an impressive palace (Nasrid Palace) and an inspiring garden (Generalife). Its name stems from the full name "Qal'at al-hamra" which in Arabic means Red Fortress. It was a palace, a citadel and a fortress, the residence of the Nasrid Sultans and high palace dignitaries, courtesans and elite soldiers in the 13th and 14th centuries.
The UNESCO World Heritage Committee declared the Granada Alhambra and Generalife part of the Cultural Heritage of Humanity in a session on 2nd November, 1984.

El Albaicín

This is a charming neighbourhood declared part of the Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 1993. Exploring it on foot is the only way of appreciating the unmistakeable Moorish style of its streets and squares. Let yourself be spirited to heaven through the fascinating view of the Alhambra from here.
Historically the Albaicín is highly significant since it was from here the city was administrated. Before the Moors, both Iberians and Romans inhabited this city.

Baños árabes

Have you ever had a real Arabic bath in a Hammam? This is highly recommended for you to have the richest experience in Al-Andalus' finest style.

Noche de Flamenco

A visit to the caves of Sacromonte is indispensable if you really want to experience authentic popular culture in the purest Gypsy style. We recommend:

Cueva de María la Canastera
A cave founded by María Cortés Heredia, "La Canastera", over 50 years ago. Through this locale have passed Nobel prizes, Hollywood artists, famous politicians and above all, thousands and thousands of enthusiastic customers.
